What is Smart and Skilled ?

Smart and Skilled is a government-subsidised training program in New South Wales (NSW), Australia. It provides eligible students with access to affordable vocational education and training (VET) courses. The program aims to help individuals gain skills for employment or career advancement by covering part or all of the course fees for approved qualifications.

It is primarily designed for:
- School leavers
- Job seekers
- Workers looking to upskill or change careers
The funding covers courses from Certificate II to Advanced Diploma levels in various industries, including healthcare, construction, business, and community services.

Are you Eligible?

To qualify for NSW Smart & Skilled funding, you must:
✔ Be 15 years or older
✔ No longer be at school
✔ Live or work in NSW (or be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person in designated NSW border areas)
✔ Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen

Holding a prior qualification does not affect your eligibility. Even if you have a Certificate IV or higher, you can still access subsidised training up to Certificate III level. However, students with post-school qualifications may pay a higher fee than those without.
